Booking an actors headshot session with Morag MacDonald
What should I wear?
Plain and neutral clothing and necklines work best for actors headshots. A black t-shirt or jumper with a round or v neck is best. You may wish to bring along a couple of changes, I am advised that most agents and casting directors like simple clothing that show the neckline. Please avoid anything too patterned, brightly coloured or with large stripes.
Do I need a make-up artist?
Having your hair and make-up done professionally can make you feel more confident but you should not change yourself too much, I am told by casting directors that any make-up should be light and natural. If you would like to add the services of a makeup artist you may do so, fees vary but average at £80 per session.
Can I buy extra images?
Of course. Any images you purchase above those in your package wil be lightly retouched and supplied in both colour and B&W, in high res for print and web optimised for uploading to Spotlight etc. Extra images are priced at £25.
Where do shoots take place?
Actors headshots are photographed in my comfortable studio in St Andrews in Bristol. There is a park nearby to take outdoor headshots. We are easy to find, nestled between the M32 motorway and Gloucester Rd. There is ample free on-street parking, Montpelier railway station is about 1/2 a mile away and there is a bus stop outside that brings you straight from Bristol Temple Meads Station on the No. 70 bus.
Do you supply prints?
I can supply prints at an extra cost. The high-resolution files supplied on your memory stick are optimised for print and printing rights are released allowing you to make prints as and when you need to at a lower rate. We recommend using a high quality photo lab like 'Clifton Colour' in the Clifton Down Shopping Centre on Whiteladies Rd in Bristol.
