Cotswold wedding photography at Woodchester Priory and Calcot Manor
Melissa and Tom's sumptuous winter wedding in the Cotswolds
I always knew that Melissa and Tom's wedding would be wonderful. The weather was cold and crisp, snow had fallen in the days leading up to the wedding. December weddings are always different. Light levels are low and the images are all about atmosphere. Shooting wide open in the church meant that the images have a shallow depth of field and fading light levels after the ceremony meant that I had the perfect opportunity to light a few shots and get some really special images. Winter weddings are a passion of mine, I love the challenge and love to light a few shots to create some subtle drama.
Returning to photograph this wedding reception at Calcot Manor in the Cotswolds was a joy. It is such a wonderful venue, with Christmas decorations up, warm fires in the snugs and sitting rooms and lovely lanterns lighting the way outside it looked just perfect. The bit I was doubly excited about was the service itself at Woodchester Priory. It is a stunning wedding venue, popular with destination wedding couples (flying in for a bit of old world Cotswold charm from as far away as Singapore, Australia and Japan). I was given a warm welcome by the Deacon, the church is steeped in history and so lovingly cared for, the perfect beginning to Melissa and Tom's new life.
Melissa wore stunning dress by Caroline Castigliano, the colours for the day were wintery blues to warm pale yellow. Photographing the wedding reception at Calcot Manor was made even better but he wonderful Christmas interior design. The evening kicked off with the fabulous band Coverland. Fireworks finished the night off in style.
Thank you Melissa and Tom for giving me the opportunity to join you and once again become a Cotswolds wedding photographer.
